The AI antigen detection ELISA kit will measure the presence of nucleoprotein from Type A Avian Influenza. Microtitre plates have been pre-coated with anti AI antibody. Samples are collected, diluted and added to the microtitre wells where AI antigen present will bind and form an antigen-antibody complex. Non-specific agents and proteins are then washed away. Anti-nucleoprotein antibodies labelled with the enzyme alkaline phosphatase are then added to the wells and binds to any AI antigen originally bound to the coated wells. After another wash to remove unreacted conjugate, substrate is added in the form of pNPP chromogen. A yellow colour is developed if AI antigen is present and the intensity is directly related to the amount of AI antigen present in the sample.
